About me

I currently reside in Raleigh, NC, but was born and raised in New Jersey. My pronouns are she/her. I am a North Carolina Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been working in the field for 11+ years.

I received my Bachelors degree in Family and Child Studies from Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ in 2011, and my Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ in 2013, with a focus on clinical social work. I additionally received a graduate-level certificate from Rutgers University in Violence Against Women and Children. I am currently a doctoral student in the Doctor of Social Work program at the University of Kentucky where I am studying how adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse experience shame, and how shame influences their healing and processing of trauma.

Working in multiple cities across the United States providing care to individuals and families has informed much of my practice. I have experience working as a therapist with people from an array of backgrounds, interests, and stories which has made me flexible in my approach and well-versed in many life experiences.

I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. Outside of work, I enjoy walking my dogs, creating and experiencing art, and live music.

My philosophy

I believe that people are capable of change and healing. My education, professional experiences, and personal experiences have led me to understand this as true. I believe in appropriate self-disclosure when clinically beneficial, and that transparency between client and therapist can help the process of healing and greater understanding. I believe in humor, genuine positive regard, and emotional safety as important pieces of therapy. I believe that people can use drugs safely and recreationally, and seek to create a space for these conversations in therapy.

I have engaged in the groundwork in my field, including working on a domestic violence/sexual assault hotline, overseeing a needle exchange program, and leading an intensive outpatient substance use program. I believe that my professional experiences have positioned me well to meet people where they are and provide truly compassionate care.
